Introduction

The Arab Open University (AOU) is a multi-campus university operating across several countries in the Arab world. AOU combines academic excellence, innovation, and flexibility through a modern learning model. It offers programs designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in an evolving global environment. In Morocco, AOU extends this vision by providing students with access to quality education and internationally recognized programs aligned with the evolving needs of the labor market.

History of the Arab Open University

Initiative — Founded by HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz (AGFUND), with a mission to drive development through accessible higher education.

1996 — Official announcement of the AOU concept as a non- conventional, development-oriented academic institution.

2002 — AOU formally established in strategic partnership with The Open University (UK).

Headquarters — Located in the State of Kuwait.

Partnership — Ongoing collaboration with The Open University (UK) since 2002, ensuring internationally recognized academic standards.

Mission

Offering high-quality education to all segments of society, and providing them with labor market skills through an attractive advanced technical learning environment and a flexible educational model that transcends time and place obstacles; developing the science and knowledge society by providing a stimulating environment for scientific research and an incubator for innovation; contributing to achieving sustainable development in Arab societies.

Achievements & Numbers

Since its establishement, the University has served more than 317 thousand students, through offering degrees in various programmes (Diplomas, Bachelor’s and Master’s).

More than 65.9 thousand students have graduated from the AOU.
The majority have joined the labor market in the Arab world.

The university aims at empowering women and providing educational opportunities that suit to their circumstances across the Arab world. The percentage of female graduates is 62% of the total number of students.

Students from 152 nationalities from around the world have enrolled in the University since its inception.
